Energy Speaks is dedicated to educating students about career opportunities available in the state of West Virginia in the oil and natural gas industry, which is why the Energy Speaks Education Initiative was established. To date, programs include:

Teach the Teachers Seminars

  • September 2012 - Morgantown
  • October 2013 - Charleston
  • October 2014 - Wheeling
  • More than 100 teachers and counselors from 17 counties have participated.
  • Activities include an industry overview, career panel, roundtable lunch discussion with industry representatives, young professionals panel, and a classroom resources workshop.

Opportunities for Life Career Days

  • Presentations have been given in high schools across the state.
  • We have reached nearly 4,000 students.
  • The hour and a half presentation includes an industry overview, career opportunities and a fun, educational video.

Tom Dunn Energy Leadership Academy

  • The academy was created to honor Tom Dunn, one of IOGA's pioneer members.
  • It takes place each summer at WV Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.
  • There is no cost to selected participants.
  • Students spend two and a half days at the academy and participate in workshops and field trips, and interact personally with industry representatives.
